The Rain in my heart

My heart becomes heavy with sorrow,

threatens to burst and spill its contents,

like the clouds,

wearing their dark cloaks before they rain.

The thunders strike the dark blue sky,

so does the pain sting through my heart.

The tears quietly sneak up to the corners of the eyes,

and trickle down the cheeks,

only to fall to the earth like the silent drizzling of rain.

Tears fall incessantly,

Anew with passion and fury,

emotions become violent,

as the drizzle grows into a rainstorm.

The clear stream of reason,

Then flows through the tears into the heart.

And realization overcomes the misery,

like an iridescent arc.

Behind the clouds,

then rises the sun,

And a band of colours break through,

winning over the shades of dreary grey and blue.

So does the pain escape my heart,

Stinging and vexing,

Breaking and making.

Flowers in Spring

Spring arrived in my garden,

I welcome the colours,

the flowers, the trees.

The marigolds quietly bloom in the corner,

the geraniums grow gorgeous by the day.

The daffodils smile up at me happily.

The tulips look like elegant ladies,

in their gowns of red and green,

and the flirtatious lilies charm me effortlessly.

Subtle fragrances sail in the air,

and my heart sails away with them.

The Song of the Bird

The Song of the Bird

I would spread my wings and fly high,

scale the mountains and race the sky,

in search of the horizon, I would fly,

past rushing rivers and mirroring lochs,

into the heavenly sky.

Yet, I long in vain for those boundless, faraway heights,

for there is melancholy in the sky,

and sorrow in the winds.

In the confines of the golden bars,

I take a glimpse at the world outside,

and beg for freedom.

I have forgotten how I serenaded the sky,

and drank water from gurgling brooks

Only sorrowful notes escape my lungs now.

I lament and yearn, day and night,

to soar freely once again,

towards the limitless, blue skies.

Blue tranquility

Blue tranquility

The quiet lake mirrored the sky,
as the shades of azure filled me with life.
Everything was still,
and perhaps, time as well.

And my heart filled with tranquility.
